Why go to the Moon and to Mars when there are big problems to face on Earth? Tommaso Ghidini responds to this provocation. There are so many technologies and benefits already that have changed our lives and that were born from research and space missions. More recently we have learned a lot from the orbiting space station experience and even more from the ongoing projects to develop our presence on the Moon and the journey that will take us to Mars in 2030. For these projects for mankind, engineers aren’t enough anymore, we need biologists, doctors, psychologists and philosophers. We are becoming a multiplanetary species in order to protect the Earth and the life on it.
